Teacher Recruitment Program State Coordinator

The North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is seeking a contract part-time to full-time Program and Grant Project Coordinator for our NC Teacher Cadet Program – a future teacher recruitment and leadership program in NC public high schools. The position is a one-year contract position with the potential to extend.

The North Carolina Teacher Cadet Program is an in-state teacher recruitment and leadership program designed to create a pipeline of students to be the next generation of teachers and one that is reflective of the diverse demographic makeup of the students served. Offered as an honors course in North Carolina’s public high schools, the program employs a “Grow Our Own” philosophy through a course of study that develops future educators at the point in their lives when they are actively exploring career choices.

Qualifications:

● North Carolina Public School Licensed Teacher - 5 years’ experience preferred;

● Professional with transparent and high integrity leadership;

● Grant Project coordinator with experience in organizing and implementing grant requirements in a multi-faceted education setting;

● Solid experience in a fast-paced project management role, including experience in successfully coordinating teams;

● Experience in researching and implementation of software and other electronic tools for work efficiency;

● Experience in data tracking, reporting, and analysis;

● Strong organizational, written communication, and presentation skills;

● Experience in event logistics planning and implementation;

● Able to prioritize timely reports and communicate effectively to the Executive Director and other investor individuals and groups;

● Capacity to meet critical deadlines;

● Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy;

● Previous experience with non-profits preferred.

Job Responsibilities

● Report to and work with the Executive Director;

● Communicate effectively and professionally within the parameters of grant project goals and objectives with all stakeholders in the public school and high education systems. (Superintendents, administrators, teachers, high school students, college/university personnel, NC Department of Public Instruction, staff and the press);

● Coordination of event planning logistics, ranging from 25-attendee workshops to several hundred-attendee state conferences – adhering to budget restrictions;

● Field communications and support to public school teachers who instruct the curriculum. Adhere to legal parameters for copyrights and intellectual property;

● Collaborate with program leadership teacher team. Identify, recruit, train and develop additional diverse and talented teachers for team expansion;

● Plan, coordinate, and implement the goals and objectives of a grant by utilizing all resources available for its success. Areas will include, but are not limited to, the establishment of Teacher Cadet classes in targeted NC Tier One county school districts, training for administrators and teachers, adult mentor identification and training for student support, student leadership conferences, and building a sustainable program that will impact “the student to teacher” pipeline.  Adhering to the parameters of the grant’s requirements, establishing partnerships with colleges/universities, educational support groups, and community organizations is a requirement for this position;

● Maintain accurate and formal records of plans, activities, and events necessary for the success of the grant with weekly reporting directly to the foundation’s Executive Director;

● Utilize data systems for tracking, reporting, and analyzing to communicate, train, and coordinate with stakeholders;

● Acquire reliable and valid data while adhering to ethical uses including confidentiality related to specific requirements of the grant;

● Explore and maintain a database of other program funding opportunities such as the NC General Assembly, program underwriters, charities, and grants both state and federal;

Location: North Carolina. Remote work with some travel to Raleigh and within North Carolina. Orientation will include in-person meetings in Raleigh.

Schedule: Minimum 25 hours per week.

Compensation: Contract (no benefits). Negotiable based on experience. Travel expenses covered.

Timeline: Preferred start date is July 1, 2022.
